  • H.P. Day 10

So, I haven't been living up to writing in this blog every day. But, I certainly have been writing a lot more than usual, which is better than nothing, right?

I didn't finish my 5 days of cardio last week. I only made it 5. However, I did do 4 hours worth of pretty hardcore cleaning in my hot apartment on Sunday. That has to count for something! hahaha.

On Monday I didn't go to the gym because I was feeling a bit under the weather, but I made it there on Tuesday! On Tuesday I ended up spending about 45mins on the treadmill speed walking at 6.2km/hr on a 4% incline. It felt like a really good work out. I should walk on inclines more often. Running is great, but I feel like I work different muscles when walking on an incline.

I've been a been a bit frustrated this last week though. Every time I go to the gym I'm up in weight. I've gained a kilogram since last week. The optimist in me hopes that I'm gaining muscle weight... but I also just feel bigger. Is this a diet issue? I don't feel like I'm eating more than usual. Any advice or ideas?

    Current: 79KG (about 174.17lbs)

    Last: 78KG (172lbs)

    Lowest: 75.05KG (164.5lbs)

Highest: Somewhere around 185lbs... but I'm not exactly sure

    Goal: 63.5KG (140lbs)

  • H.P. Day 6

Had a pretty quick, but good workout on Thursday. I found the stair stepper a bit awkward, so opted for 5mins on that, and then switched over to the treadmill again for another 5mins walking at 6.2km/hr at a 3% incline.

Friday went out to celebrate my friend's birthday. Celebrations are the hardest time to watch your eating, but I don't think I did sooooooo bad. haha.

Today I spent all day out in Seoul walking around palaces, secret gardens and artsy cafe areas. A nice active way to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening.

Tomorrow I must do my 40 mins of cardio, but I haven't decided what to do yet. My gym is only open every other Sunday and I'm not sure about this one. The options are running outside, which is nice except for the car fumes... haha. Or maybe tae bo in my apartment.

Right now I feel like I'm going in a good direction and hoping it continues.

  • H.P. Day 4

It felt good to run sprints yesterday, but I probably sweat more than I've ever sweat before! That gym is toasty! I ran for at 6.3 and 14 kilometers per hour for 6.25km, switching off every .25km. Changing the speed so often helps the time pass quickly. I think I'm going to use 4 different machines today; treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike and steps at 10 mins each. Tomorrow I'll take a day off from working out and do it Saturday or Sunday instead.

  • H.P. Day 3

Yesterday I spent 40 mins doing "hill climb" on the elliptical plus 5 minutes of cool down. It ended up being 5.8km total. Not bad!

Today's plan... sprints on the treadmill + weight training.

I haven't been eating especially great lately though. The last 2 nights in a row I've succumbed to a late night toast craving. Gotta work on that. Also gotta work on getting a decent amount of sleep!

  • Health Pact - Day 2

    C.W. 78KG (about 172lbs)

    L.W. 75.05KG (164.5lbs)

H.W. Somewhere around 185lbs... but I'm not exactly sure

    Current G.W. 63.5KG (140lbs)

I want to get to 140lbs and see how I feel then. I think that's somewhere in the middle area of my healthy BMI (which I know is not completely accurate, but kind of something general to go by).

I made it to the gym last night, and got more than my 40 required minutes of cardio in, including an 8:50 mile. Not bad but definitely not my best. As we're approaching summer, the gym is getting progressively more and more hot. Korean people tend to like to workout in hot weather. I think it's something about the excessive sweating. (at least, it's excessive in my case!) Anyway... the air con use is pretty limited!

Awkward moment when I ran into one of my students in the locker room. I'm not comfortable with my students seeing me bra off... feels a little strange. So, I put off changing until she left the locker room.

I'm excited about this Health Pact. I hope that it does good things for me!

(Not feeling particularly articulate right now. My apologies!)
